My Story
Growing up, my family was always pretty healthy. We ate home cooked meals and sports and exercise were a big part of our lives.
When my dad was diagnosed with cancer, it was a huge shock to us all. He took supplements, worked out, had a decent diet and still...cancer! How could this be? Immediately, I went into research mode. I wanted to know everything about brain cancer. How do you get it? And more importantly, what can you do to get rid of it?! This was the beginning of my journey. I read just about everything I could get my hands on that was in any way related to true health. I knew that drugs and chemicals were not something that resonated with me and they seemed to cause more harm than good. But, what did make sense was food. After all, Hippocrates, the father of medicine, said, "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food".
After my dad lost his fight against cancer, I started having a few health issues of my own. I was in a stressful job, working far more than 40 hours a week and traveling much of the time. The stress from my job left me feeling, on most days, as if an elephant was sitting on my chest. For a while, irritability and dread were the first feelings of the day. But, I was eating healthy, preparing my meals, working out everyday and still not feeling my best. I had done all of the research, I knew what to do to be healthy but nothing seemed to be making me feel any better. I knew I had to make a massive shift in the way I was living.
I ended up leaving my stressful job and moving into a different position which allowed me to settle down, travel less and devote time to my true passion of natural health & wellness and became a certified Health Coach.
At first, in my new role, my body didn't know how to respond. I had been pushing myself to the limit for so long that when I finally stopped, I felt like I was literally dying of exhaustion. After about 3-4 months of really treating my body and mind well, I began to feel like me again. Happy, healthy and full of life!
Poor health and quality of life is, in my opinion, unacceptable and I want to help anyone who is willing make true and lasting changes that will take their health and life to the next level.
For this reason, Valerie Thomure Health & Wellness was created. If you want to get on track and stay on track with your health and your life, you can do this with diet and lifestyle changes (and an awesome Health Coach) and truly enjoy life as it was meant to be lived...full of joy!
